PURPOSE: RECONSTRUCT ENGINEERED MATERIAL ARRESTING SYSTEM SAFETY AREA. ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED/EXPECTED OUTCOMES: THIS PROJECT RECONSTRUCTS EXISTING RUNWAY 6/24 ENGINEERED MATERIAL ARRESTING SYSTEM SAFETY AREA AT THE 24 END, THAT HAS REACHED THE END OF ITS USEFUL LIFE. THIS GRANT FUNDS PHASE 1, WHICH CONSISTS OF ACQUIRING ENGINEERED MATERIAL ARRESTING SYSTEM BLOCKS. THE FAA WORKED WITH THE NATION'S 14 CFR PART 139 CERTIFIED AIRPORTS TO COMPLETE ALL PRACTICABLE IMPROVEMENTS TO RUNWAY SAFETY AREAS PRIOR TO THE DEADLINE OF DECEMBER 31, 2015. HOWEVER, SOME AIRPORTS, INCLUDING THIS ONE, CONTINUE TO PURSUE FURTHER IMPROVEMENTS AS THEY BECOME FEASIBLE. INTENDED BENEFICIARY: THIS GRANT WILL PROVIDE FEDERAL FUNDING FOR AIRPORTS ASSOCIATED WITH MANCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE.
