PURPOSE: CONSTRUCT/EXTEND/IMPROVE SAFETY AREA. ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED/EXPECTED OUTCOMES: THIS PROJECT REPLACES AN ENGINEERED MATERIAL ARRESTING SYSTEM THAT HAS EXCEEDED ITS USEFUL LIFE AT THE 14 CFR PART 139 CERTIFICATED RUNWAY 11 AND 29 DEPARTURE ENDS TO MEET RUNWAY SAFETY AREA STANDARDS. THIS GRANT FUNDS 10% OF THE TOTAL PROJECT. THIS GRANTS FUNDS A PORTION OF PHASE 1 OF A 2 PHASE PROJECT. THIS PROJECT IS ASSOCIATED WITH AN AIRPORT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM GRANT THAT FUNDS THE REMAINING ELIGIBLE PORTION OF THE PROJECT. INTENDED BENEFICIARY: THIS GRANT WILL PROVIDE FEDERAL FUNDING FOR AIRPORTS ASSOCIATED WITH WORCESTER, MASSACHUSETTS.
